As self-employed folk and small business owners, it can feel isolating at times, especially with everything going on right now. However, it's probably more important than ever to build your own tribe or community.⁠
⁠
This could be fellow business owners, client or customers, anyone who can help you through. They might be in the same industry as you, a direct competitor even, but that doesn't mean there isn't space for you both.⁠
⁠
Every business owner offers something different, even if they're offering the same service or product. As a content writer, I know so many incredible businesswomen in my industry but you also won't find a more supportive bunch either!⁠

Whilst you can get bogged down with imposter syndrome, it's worth knowing that life isn't always as good as it seems on Instagram. If you see a business owner smashing it, tell them, befriend them, be inspired by their success but don't get jealous. You never know what they might be going, despite how good their life looks online. ⁠

I've made a shift in my spending from buying from bigger stores and companies to smaller, independent businesses. Whilst I can't buy everything from a small or local business, I can for certain items. It's all about making small changes.⁠

When it comes to items I buy from small businesses, scrunchies seem to be my latest go-to. My two favourite businesses for them, @beautieuk_ and @cosygirlsclub_, have really come to life during 2020, with more product lines available and diversifying their product range. ⁠

It takes a lot to run your own business, wearing multiple hats constantly and trying to balance your time as best you can.⁠

I didn't post on Thursday or Friday last week as I needed a couple of days to myself. I initially felt guilty for taking time off but then realised that the best way to take care of clients is to take care of yourself first! ⁠

Since my launch 4 weeks ago, I've been going at 100mph trying to get everything right that I hit the wall. I soon realised that I needed to take a break, reflect on my first month in business and build from there.⁠

I basically hit the reset button and had a huge brainstorming session of future content. Let me tell you, I can't wait to start putting those plans into action. ⁠
